Inside DC3 CWS, 28 seats, 1 jump seat and one "other" seat. A good vacuum
and she'd look like new. Peter Edwards runs the engines fortnightly.
9th Feb 2010
It was "hot and steamy" in here and my lens kept fogging up hence some ugly
photos and a shower when I got home!! The air wasn't good inside either, no
wind outside, 99% humidity, remind me why I do this??? The cockpit windows
woudn't slide open either as I didn't have a 10 foot crowbar in my top pocket.

C-47's On The Move
Ralph Chrystall of Chrystalls Transport at Molong sent me these photos from
when he transported 4 ex Dakota National Air DC3's from Bankstown Airport up
to Molong, West of Orange.
The first one is DNA crossing the Denman bridge.
This is MIN getting prepared to leave and also crossing the Denman bridge.
This is PWN (2) waiting for daylight at Rutherford and crossing the same bridge
BPN is already there. There is one more to be transported, DNF, which has been
at Warnervale for over 15 years.
Ralph has made a special cradle to support the fuselage which lays them at
about 25 degrees from TDC to narrow the width. He is able to move other
airframes of a similar size with this great setup, including Caribous which would
fit perfectly.
If you happen to be in the Molong area, check these old birds out at Laras Lee.
You can contact Ralph via e-mail here

20th February 2010 and Ralph and I meet at Warnervale to prepare VH-DNF for the road
trip out to Molong. There are 760 nuts and bolts holding both wings on as I found out!!!
Ralph removed both props and over the next 2 days he removed the rudder, fin, both
wings, both wheels and lifted the undercart up and placed the fuselage on his trailer.
1 a.m. 24th February and she's ready to roll. Turning on to the F3 freeway, heading as
far as Maitland this leg.
Hope there's no coppers around, I think it's illegal to photograph while driving!!
Arrived at Maitland at 2.30a.m. and the crew pitch down for a few hours sleep.
9 a.m. and the day is re-starting.
Ready to go again, the crew from left: Ben, Ralph, Paddy, John & P.C.Craig from Wyong.
9.30 a.m. and off on the 2nd leg to Sandy Hollow where they will stop for fuel.
Passing through Jerrys Plains and onto the Denman bridge.
And stopping at Sandy Hollow, which is where I had to leave them.
Please e-mail me if you want to see the other 70 photos I took on this morning.
